A Virtual and Tactile Record of the University of Galway Campus

Throughtout the year, students work on a variety of projects in the MakerSpace.

This project uses drones and photogrammetry to generate a snapshot of the University campus as it stands 175 years after its founding. That snapshot will take the form of a 3D virtual campus map which can be preserved as a born digital University archive. Additionally, the virtual map will be captured in such a format that it is suitable for 3D printing and display.

The completed project assets, both digital and physical, will contribute to the University.

The project has been generously funded from the President's Grant for Institutional History projects.

Image of Three-Legged Tobē

Tobē is one of the loveliest dogs your likely to meet. The fluffy girl is a "Tri-Pawd," meaning she gets around day to day on her three little legs.

Last year, a small but crucial piece broke on Tobē's stroller. We've replaced this part. But now we’re also planning to fully "pupgrade" Tobē's transportation to help her be the best dog she can be.

Brothers of Charity West Region Logo

Joining forces with the Brothers of Charity West Region, we’re helping to 3D print tools to make life easier for people with disabilities.

The Brothers of Charity provide a wide range of educational, day, residential, respite, family support, and multi-disciplinary support services for people with an intellectual disability and their families living in Galway and Roscommon areas.

As part of this project, we are contributing to an Assistive Technology Loan Library to allow people supported by the service to trial Assistive Technology (AT) devices to find solutions that can enhance their independence, privacy, safety, choice, and control.
