Multifunctional Printers in the Library

There are twelve multifunctional printers (MFPs) in the Library, including several on each floor. If there is a queue at the printers on the Ground Floor, check if the printers on Floor 1 or Floor 2 are free - they often are.

Each MFP is capable of printing, photocopying, and scanning. Users must log in to the machine by swiping their campus ID card or by inputting their user ID and password manually into the printer.

The default setting for each MFP is set to printing. If you wish to copy or scan, press the Home button (it will be a house-shaped icon), and then choose Copy or Scan on the home screen.

Printing and photocopying costs 12 cents per black and white, double-sided page. Scanning costs 1 cent per page.

Remember to log out after finishing your print job, or else someone else could use the funds in your account. Hit the door icon with one or two arrows, that's the logout button.

Please note that there is currently no printing available for external users.

Print Credit

You will need to put credit on your Print Credit Account to use the multi-function printers.

To credit your print account

  • Use the cash top up at the kiosk on the ground floor of the Library in the area just beside the Library and IT Service Desk.
  • Or purchase credit online using a debit or credit card.
  • For more information and to find other printers on campus, visit the ISS (Information Solutions and Services) Multi-Function Printer page.
  • Please note that printing is not currently available for External users, you must have a Campus Account (i.e. must be a current registered student or staff member of University of Galway).

Print with UniPrint

The best way to print for most print jobs is using the University print service, UniPrint. Using your University of Galway email account, send an email to uniprint@universityofgalway.ie with the document you wish to print attached. Wait for further instructions by email reply - it will only take a few seconds.

You can also upload printjobs to UniPrint via your UniPrint Print Centre. Log in with your Campus Account ID and password. You can change print settings to print in colour for example, or switch from double to single-sided. Select the print job you wish to adjust, and then toggle the relevant switches.

Print from Library PCs

If your print job is larger than 30 Mb, it might be better to print from a Library PC instead of using UniPrint. Select the Print menu item from whatever app you are using. You should have an option to print with BW_Print or Colour_Print. Choose whichever option is most suitable.

All PCs are connected to the multifunctional printers in the Library. Once you have send the print job by hitting 'Print', log in to any available printer.

Print from Personal Laptop over Wi-Fi

If your print job is larger than 30 Mb, it might be better to print from your personal laptop over Wifi. Follow the instructions available from Information Solutions and Services.
