You can contact the Archives service and team with queries by a number of means.

In Person: Queries can be made to the duty staff member at the Archives & Special Collections Reading Room. Requests for material will have to be made in advance.

If you want to contact an individual member of Archives staff by email/phone you can do so.


Where to Find Us

The Main University Library is adjacent to the concourse on the north corridor

The Archives & Special Collections Reading Room is located on the ground floor of the Library is open during the following opening hours

You will need your university ID card to enter the library gates. Go the right and take the corridor to the right of the lift and the reading room is at the end.


Opening Hours

This service enables readers to place requests to access Special Collections items and Archival material in the Reading Room.

Hours: Usually 10:00am – 5:00pm (8:00pm every Tuesday), check the opening hours for out of term and holiday hours

AccessAll registered students and staff of the University of Galway and external researchers wishing to consult materials not available to them elsewhere

Reader spaces in the Archives & Special Collections Reading Room must be booked in advance. You can do this by emailing specialcollections@universityofgalway.ie with details of the material you wish to consult. Information on consulting material is available below.
